Cooking with Kay: Nothing Like A Good Potluck

While we all enjoy the food of a good potluck, today’s column reveals several fun and interesting things that have come my way recently; plus some tips about fall cooking — a potluck, if you will, about all things food.

Besh is one of my favorite New Orleans’ chefs. His food is delicious and he is definitely easy on the eyes. More importantly, he performs incredible public service bringing awareness to causes where food makes a difference and offering scholarships to young people who are interested in the culinary arts.

Friday, Oct. 9, Makers Mark is offering “An intimate dinner with Chef John Besh” at Makers Mark distillery in Loretto. It begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour featuring, of course, Makers Mark bourbon served up in New Orleans cocktails such as the Hurricane and the Sazerac.

Melissa Hamilton and Christopher Hirsheimer, founders of Canal House and James Beard award winners will be preparing the Besh-inspired meal that includes passed hors d’oeuvres, appetizer, soup, entree and dessert.
